CET to MST Time Zone Converter

CET is Central European Time — Paris, Berlin, Madrid, and Rome (CET in winter, CEST in summer). MST is US Mountain Time, the clock in Denver, Salt Lake City, and Albuquerque. Mountain runs about eight hours behind Central Europe for most of the year, and this converter applies the right offset for any date, daylight saving included.

Enter a date and time to convert.

Daylight saving is applied automatically for the date you pick. Labels like PST/EST name the zone (Pacific/Eastern); the real abbreviation shifts to PDT/EDT during daylight saving, and gmt here means London (GMT in winter, BST in summer) while utc stays fixed.

The time difference

US Mountain Time is 8 hours behind Central Europe for most of the year, in both winter and summer, since the anchor dates fall in aligned periods. The exception is the mismatch windows: during March 8–29 and October 25–November 1, 2026, the US and Europe haven't both switched yet, so the gap is briefly off by one hour.

A worked example

Take 9:00 AM in Central Europe. On January 15, 2026 that is 1:00 AM in Denver the same day. On July 15, 2026 it's again 1:00 AM in Denver — the eight-hour gap holds across seasons, so one value covers most of the year. That's deep into the night out west: a mid-morning European start lands hours before Denver is up.

Daylight saving & the abbreviation caveat

The slug says "MST," but Mountain shifts to MDT from spring to fall — locals just say MT. Both Europe and the US observe daylight saving, but on different dates, which is why the usual eight-hour gap slips by an hour during those late-March and late-October windows. The converter reads the exact date, so the result is never wrong.

When you'll use it

Useful for setting calls with a Denver or Salt Lake City team, timing US Mountain event start times from Europe, planning flights, and coordinating remote work across an eight-hour spread.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours behind CET is US Mountain Time?

Usually eight hours. When it's 5:00 PM in Madrid it's 9:00 AM in Denver. For a couple of weeks in spring and fall the gap is briefly seven hours.

Why is the gap off by an hour sometimes?

The US and Europe both observe daylight saving but on different dates — the US on March 8 and November 1, 2026, Europe on March 29 and October 25. Between those dates only one side has changed, so the difference shifts by an hour.

Does Arizona follow this?

Most of Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time year-round and doesn't spring forward, so during US summer it can differ from Denver. This converter uses Mountain Time with daylight saving, matching Denver.
