CST to CET Time Zone Converter
This converts US Central Time (CST, or CDT in summer — locals say CT) into Central European Time, shown as CET in winter and CEST in summer. Most of the year CET sits 7 hours ahead of Central Time. The converter accounts for daylight saving on both sides, so you get the correct hour for whatever date you choose.

Daylight saving is applied automatically for the date you pick. Labels like PST/EST name the zone (Pacific/Eastern); the real abbreviation shifts to PDT/EDT during daylight saving, and gmt here means London (GMT in winter, BST in summer) while utc stays fixed.
The time difference
Central European Time runs ahead of US Central Time by 7 hours for most of the year — the same in winter and summer, since both places move their clocks. The wrinkle is the dates: the US springs forward March 8, 2026, while Europe waits until March 29; the US falls back November 1, but Europe on October 25. In those gaps only one side has switched, so the usual 7-hour difference is briefly an hour off.
A worked example
Take 9:00 AM Central Time.
- Winter (Jan 15, 2026): 9:00 AM CST becomes 4:00 PM CET the same day.
- Summer (Jul 15, 2026): 9:00 AM CDT becomes 4:00 PM CEST the same day.
Same clock result either season, because both dates fall in settled periods.
Daylight saving & the abbreviation caveat
The slug says "CST," but from spring to fall Central Time is really CDT — folks in Chicago, Dallas, and Houston just say "CT." On the other end, Central Europe flips between CET and CEST. Because the two regions change on different dates, the gap wobbles for roughly two weeks each spring and fall. The converter applies the right offset for your exact date, so an unusual-looking gap in those windows is correct.
When you'll use it
Useful for scheduling meetings with offices in Paris, Berlin, or Madrid, timing a flight to Europe, catching a live event or match, or keeping remote work in sync with continental teammates.
Frequently asked questions
How many hours ahead is Central European Time than Central Time?
Usually 7 hours. CET is 7 hours ahead of US Central Time for most of the year, because both regions run daylight saving and their clocks stay aligned outside two short windows.
Why can the gap be off by an hour in spring or fall?
The US and Europe switch daylight saving on different dates. For about two weeks in late March and late October 2026, only one side has changed, so the normal 7-hour gap is briefly 6 or 8.
What's the difference between CET and CEST?
CET is Central European Time (winter); CEST is Central European Summer Time, one hour ahead. Cities like Paris, Berlin, and Rome show CEST from late March to late October and CET the rest of the year.
